I came to this center in complete despair, angry at everything and everyone overflowing with addiction to many different substances. I was hooked on benzodiazepines, opioids and different uppers such as cocaine or MDMA but most importantly I was slowly committing suicide and didn’t care about it, with my self worth being non-existent.
Having been to 3 clinics/ rehabs before coming to inner life, I was faced with the shortcomings of the rehab industry : the over-prescribing and over-diagnosis method. A method that nearly killed me. In the rehabs I was at before, their solution were trying to find new drugs to solve my drug problem, quite ironic when you think about it.
At inner-life, my journey began with a well-structured detox of every mind-altering non-essential medication, a crucial step in order to clear the complete fog that I lived in. A step which came with its difficulties and challenges but I understand now, is necessary in order to tackle the root of the problem. Once the fog cleared, there came the real battle and what the inner-life staff and its manager Steven really excel at . The care, understanding, patience and accompaniment they showed towards me is invaluable. I was a very difficult case and had been kicked out of 2 of the rehabs that I was in before, breaking the rules and testing the limits, as most of us addicts do when faced with rules.
The level of gratefulness I feel towards the team of inner life is incalculable. I am now over 8 months clean and sober and have lost the desire to use. I have my life back but more than that I have one that I could never have dreamed when I was in the grasp of addiction. I am opening a restaurant with my best friend, started my company and I am still in regular contact with the inner life team having created very powerful bonds for life.
If you struggle with addiction of any type, the inner-life team are experts in the matters, the staff are all addicts of some sort in recovery and that is also an essential aspect of the efficiency of their approach.

Having failed to achieve a consistent and contented recovery from alcoholism since my first AA meeting in 2002, I checked in to Innerlife Recovery in September 2023. I had previously attended 8 different rehabs across UK and Europe and had at one time achieved 5 years sober through 12-step meetings before a series of debilitating relapses.

I was immediately struck by the undeniable buoyancy and good-humour at Innerlife, which truly sets its apart from other rehabs. There is a real sense of “we are all in this together” and that ethos is positively intoxicating!

Checking in to an addiction treatment centre after your life has fallen apart tends to be a pretty sombre experience but the colourful personalities of Francis, Jimmy, Steven, James, Maria, Hayley, Shelley, even the fella with the gong bath, really lifted me.

Over the course of my 3-month treatment at Innerlife, I was encouraged to build the foundation of an “entire psychic change”. For many years I had found pleasure solely in alcohol and drugs. I discovered that I enjoy ice baths, pranayama breathing and even a different type of music (special mention to Des’ree!). The positive energy, quirky comedy and deep belief the team have in the power of recovery enabled me to break free of shyness and begin socialising with my fellow clients authentically.

I will always treasure my time at Innerlife, from the legendary Big Book studies to Maria’s breakfasts - you’ve never had a fried egg quite like it! Thank you Innerlife for making long-term recovery so desirable.
